Celebrate Halloween with the Headless Horseman, SCI FI Channel's Latest Saturday Original Movie.
It’s that time of year for all the horror buffs out there: Halloween! Headless Horseman, Premiering Saturday, October 27, 9 p.m. ET/PT, is part of SCI FI Channel’s 13 Days of Halloween -- putting a contemporary spin to the old classic tale of Sleepy Hollow. The program is written by Ken Badish (Gryphon) and Zachary Weintraub (Dream Warrior aka A Man Called Rage). Cast
StoryHeadless Horseman begins its story on All Hallow’s Eve, 1862, with two civil war soldiers protecting a bridge only to see one of them fall victim to the Horseman and then quickly leaps forward to present day Halloween. Enter seven young friends at a small gas station who are on their way to a Halloween party. To make up for lost time they decide to take a short cut off the main road. While driving down the dirt road their tire is flattened by a bear trap. They are rescued by Candy, a young lady with a tow truck, and brought to a town called Wormwood Ridge. Lost and with no transportation and no cell phone service they soon discover the town is cursed by the spirit of the Headless Horseman. But that’s not the young visitors only troubles. It seems the town has a few secrets, which are contained in a journal that sits in the town library. With the aid of Candy, who has her own secret, and the journal the truth behind Wormwood Ridge and its residents is revealed. Everyone in the town is related except Candy. In order for the Headless Horseman to return to the land of the living he must collect all seven heads and the town folk must help the Horseman for their own survival. Armed with this knowledge, and not much else, the remaining group fights back but are soon down to two survivors. Having discovered the Headless Horseman’s weakness, flowing water, they finally defeat him at the same bridge seen in the opening. SummaryAlthough the plot isn’t very deep or fresh the Headless Horseman is still entertaining. There will be times you’ll feel you’re watching Wrong Turn, with the whole incest thing, or even Evil Dead, with the whole journal thing, but overall it’s worth sitting around with your friends for an evening of frightful fun especially for fans of such films as Wrong Turn, Evil Dead and I know What You Did Last Summer. 13 Days of HalloweenSCI FI Channel’s 13 Days of Halloween is a marathon of over 250 hours of horror, sci-fi movies, miniseries and originals. It begins 8 a.m. ET/PT, Friday, October 19, with a Tales From the Darkside marathon and ends on Halloween night with the 2nd annual Ghost Hunters Live.
