Jaws--Horror/Thriller {killer animal}
Dark City--(haven't seen it)
The Matrix--Fantasy {cyberpunk}
The Boys from Brazil--Thriller {sci-fantasy}
The Exorcist--Horror {demoniac possesion}
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen--Adventure {period piece}
Close Encounters of the Third Kind--Sci-Fi {moral fable}
The Davinci Code--Mystery/Adventure {detective}
Donnie Darko--Fantasy/Horror {psychological horror}
The Lord of the Rings--Adventure/Fantasy {sword & sorcery}

In response to CLASS/Category posted by JohnnySilver:Hey Johnny,
Sorry about the lateness of my response, but I am really glad that you saw fit to respond to my blog. I have to agree with all of your classifications. I also highly recommend Dark City, it is a sort of matrixy movie, but it came first and it is better, by far. I am just glad that there are others out there who feel the need to classify films like I do, I have been told by a lot of people that I should not stress about it too much, but I like to think that there is some order to the world.
Oh, and by the way what do you think of as a pure "science fiction" film, 2001 gets my vote, a lot of science and a little fiction.
