» Feature Writer Robert Dailey - Horror films

Mark: I too lament the decline of true horror films. Instead, films which have some potential for instillng real fright, have become showcases for aging stars or wannabes (Re: the two "Vampires" by Carpenter, one starring James Woods and the other starring Jon Bon Jovi, and then the Tarrantino-Clooney thing...are all the vampires now in Mexico or the desert Southwest?)utilizing cutsy anti-vampire weapons, and a slaughterfest when the star revs up the chain saw-drill-antivampire darts-whatever else the special effects crew can come up with ("Hey, John, how about rigging this blender up with a wooden swizzle stick to kill the vampire.")
Alien, and the sequel thrilled me, but we didn't need two (three? four? five?) more.
Some of Stephen Kings stuff has potential, if he could only avoid spoilng things for me by thinking he can act, even a little bit.
I'd really like to see some innovative work on Lovecraft (Vincent Price is still dead, thank God), and maybe after the special effects of LOTR, et al. some really good director will take him on.
Thanks for the great views.

» Puppetmaster - Horror films

In response to Horror films posted by bobcajun:

Vampires in general leave me cold. Thanks to Anne Rice they are generally seen as beautiful, sad and well dressed. What ever happened to Nosferatu? Man that guy was repulsive! The best vampire film in recent memory was Shadow of the Vampire; it took vampires back to their essence.

I am glad that you wrote, keep it up, I love feedback!

In response to Horror films posted by Puppetmaster:

Malkovich and Defoe!, if they were in a Crosy/Hope (ROAD TO Picture) it would still be creepy.
