Great stuff. How about Polanski's "The Fearless Vampire Killers."
Polanski's jokes in that movie have been used in many subsequent "vampire" and "horror" films:
e.g. the Jewish vampire unafraid of crucifixes, the gay vampire, and the ballroom scene that they ripped off in that Van Helsing thing.

Why is it that vampires are so damned resiliant?
Is it because they are the most human of monsters? Or is it just that they are easy to portray? I really need to start writing multi-part articles so that I can give each topic more space!
